How do I make an Application Stand out?

I want a good/funny answer to this question to make me stand out on an application form?

  • the question is; What do you think are the ingredients that make up a really great team? it is an application for a host in a restaurant i thought it would be good to ...show more

  • Answer:

They are not looking for a sense of humour they are looking for an employee. Stand out? Your application would go straight in the bin. Be professional not childish. At 24 I would have thought you would have a better idea of what is involved in applying for a position.

If you think being funny on the application form will get you noticed, you're right. if you think it'll help get the job you're in big trouble. They won't be looking for jokers for their new restaurant, they'll be looking for good members of staff. Being funny means you're not taking it seriously.

The ingredients could be: A hot chef/creative chef A splendid supervisor A dream of a dishwasher A wonderful waitress An alternative ingredient could be a plate of macaroni cheese that's beautiful, just like the chef who cooked it. If you really want to stand out, you could say "I'm not Justin Bieber but i've got the Cheese Factor". Be aware, that funny answers may not get you the job. I believe God will help you to get a job if you pray to Him. When I was unemployed, people at my church prayed for me, and I now have a job I'm happy with?

Hi - I agree with the other postings. You could do a list of serious components such as the ability to multitask to step in for colleagues who need help, or anyone who is absent, a single focus for the whole team, individual abilities which, combined, complement each other etc (google "team working" and pick up some ideas but don't plagiarise and learn these as it is a frequent interview question). However perhaps just for the very very last item on your list you could say something which has a slight wink of humour in it, to show the reader that you do in fact acknowledge the pun in the question and that you do have a very subtle and mature sense of humour. Nothing childish or silly. Something like "and finally a sprinking of humour amongst the team" or something. But remember this is a job application, as others have said, not a competition for the funniest comments etc. I hope this helps, good luck!
