Question about a career as a paramedic.?

    This absolutely depends on what financial bracket you are considering and where you live. It is not a generously paying job in most areas. One day hopefully it will get better but the truth is sad that people who put their lives out there like that just do not make that great. There are more and more positions though for Paramedics and not only working ambulance but possibly in the E.R. can swipe up some more income for you. I would recommend figuring out where you plan on settling for work and talking to other Paramedics in that area. That would give you a taste of what you are really looking into considering. Most medics that I know though work dual jobs. One thought to put out there is that there are RN Degree programs out there that are a bridge course to Paramedics that only take around 5-6 months to complete on your own now- home study. It is actually a benefit to work as a nurse too for the income and then in the field for the other job. Combining the two is excellent experience.

Well it depends on how you feel about the job. if you like it a lot, then you should go for the full time. if you don't like it as much as you expected then finding another job might be a good idea. just remember, that you have to be real serious to be a paramedic, but friendly as well so you don't scare the person too much. if you think you're good at doing things like that, then i would go for full time, but the choice is totally up to you. :) it isn't about the money, it's about helping people and maybe even saving their life!
