  My wife has been working home medical billing jobs for about the last 8 years. The flexibility of having her work at home has been nice with our kids – it’s given her a lot of flexibility she wouldn’t otherwise have with a “regular” job. She originally started working for a small billing service at home and eventually started a company processing medical claims from home and full service billing for physicians. The challenge for at home medical billing jobs isn’t so much learning billing and coding – its getting clients and convincing doctors to give you a chance. Because there’s always turnover in the business – she’s had clients die, retire, or leave and join a large practice – you have to be looking for new clients to replace them – so you really have to market your services. I helped her set up a website on medical billing and home medical billing jobs other related stuff to try and diversify – it makes some money from ads and a few affiliates. As far as pay it depends on the type of practice and how busy they are. If you charge a percentage for a large practice the $ can be pretty good. With a part time doctor or one with a lot of Medicare or Medicaid it’s hard to make much – the doctor really doesn’t make much.
