Where can medical assistants work?

Can medical assistants work in nursing homes if yes what duties can they perform?

  I'm not sure that there are jobs with that title though perhaps needing a phlebotomist(?) Unfortunately, there aren't supposed to be too many jobs for MAs (or in medical billing or coding) anyway despite what those private $$ tech schools proclaim. With med billing, a lot of companies are outsourcing to Asia/India which is exactly what happened to my cousin who got laid off from her billing job of five years. Please forgo those private expensive schools regardless of which path that one takes and instead consider the county vo-tech school or community college as long as it's accredited within the industry.
