  • Answer:

You need to go for the MT (not the MLA); its a one year training program after a bachelors in science. The MLA processes specimens & does low complexity & automated tests; the MT can work at high complexity tests, tests that require interpretation, in a blood bank, research lab and crime lab. Contact the national association for info such as American Society of Clinical Pathologists or your state MT society. The MT is also known as a CLS--clinical lab scientist if that helps as well.

Other answers

Well, a Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) prepares, and in some cases processes samples within a pathology laboratory. They also utilise pre-analytical systems in order for biomedical scientists (BMS) or Medical Laboratory Scientific Officers to process the biochemical tests requested on the sample. But a job in Medical technology refers to the diagnostic or therapeutic application of science and technology to improve the management of health conditions. Whichever sounds better for you. You may want to research both jobs more before you make your final descision. I hope this helped. Good luck!
