    I suggest you do some web surfing about nurses to get a clearer picture about all the forms that nurses come in. There are 2 REGULAR nurses (there are no irregular nurses LOL): a LVN/LPN and a RN. RNs can then be an associates (2-3 years) degree'd nurse or a bachelors (4 year) degree'd nurse. The "big stuff" that nurses do depends on where & what area they are working in. OR nurses may help with surgery (unless there is a surg tech as scrub), but they do pre, & intra, care. Post op nursing is usually a different set. Nurses are expected to be able to do everything they are trained to do--in my ER that means bed pans, incontinent bed care and other unpleasantries. People who are sick are not always neat & tidy unfortunately. This is just an intro. The more you research, the more you will fill in all the details. Good luck.

it takes about 2-3 years, maybe 4 years for an ASN-RN degree it takes about 4-5 years for a BSN-RN degree an RN is a registered nurse, they are nurses and is the standard to be a nurse. yes, RNs help with many things such as med-sug, and L&D. to be an RN, go for the BSN, a bachelor's degree. it will open more doors to you and oppurtunities will come in by for you.
