Go through your school's job center for targeting companies who are actually recruiting. Jobs at big companies are prestigious (and they may actually provide some training), but there are actually more jobs in small companies (under 50 employees) and they tend not to advertise their vacancies. You'll have to go to the library to find out what companies compete with the big guys. Ask the librarian for access to this database. Fax your resume & cover sheet. Follow up after a week.
