Would a degree w/ "animation emphasis" in Computer Science limit job opportunities?

Answer:
The fact that your degree in animation comes with a B.S. in Computer Science makes it more valuable. Graphic design, animation and video-game design have been pretty hot careers lately and because of that dozens of technical institutes have appeared offering short term degrees in those subjects. However, people getting degrees from those places can't really get good paying jobs since they are usually trained to do very specific tasks and their skills are very limited, so they can't really get jobs if they decided to switch industries. A B.S. degree in Computer Science would put you a step ahead since it would allow you to apply for positions that require some extra knowledge of computer programming and logic theory (you wouldn't just create the graphics, you should be able to tweak the computer to do stuff that the software tools can't do). Moreover, if you got tired of the industry, your skills should be good enough to apply for jobs in other industries. Btw. you can always take extra course electives so besides your animation courses, you can take a few database, algorithm, etc. courses.

Wow! You are talking about the hottest new career field -- graphic animation as it applies to games. If you are any good at all, you can pretty much write your own ticket. You might have to relocate, but the opportunities for good pay, job security and advancement are waaaay above average. Stay away from straight programming. Most of it is being outsourced for cheaper labor in other countries. Of course there are still a lot of jobs, but nothing compared to gaming graphics and design.
