Has anyone tried hair transplant?

I am keen to know if anyone has done so in India....specially in Mumbai. Is is effective on 50 year old (male)?

I have an Uncle who is in the process of having it done. The hair from the back of the head is thicker than what is on top originally but it looks a lot better now then before.
