    I am a patient in Houston TX. I recently read an article in the Houston Chronicle that said there were 1200 nursing jobs available in the houston area. Houston is home to some very prestigious hospitals. The Texas Medical Center is the largest concentration of hospitals and research facilities in the world. So maybe its worth checking out. M.D. Anderson is an amazing hospital.

Go for Travel nursing. This way you wont get burnt out on one location or staff. Plus, you can try out the employer before accepting a full time job and being stuck in a possible bad enviroment. Well you get better pay in the larger North East Cities. Depends what you want to do & the climate you enjoy. Do want a large teaching hospital or a small country setting. Since us nurses are in such great demand you can take your pick. Maybe try travel nursing to get a feel for how it is in different states. I really don't think there is a best state. It depends on your climate & job type preferances.
