Did the doctors say they were going to place a rod in your back to straighten your spine? Afterwards, while recovering, it will hurt a lot. You will have to undergo physical therapy for weeks. But, if you don't get surgery later in life you'll really hurt physically. Didn't the doctor say there is a risk/danger? Did he say you could be 100% normal or a possible chance you'll be paralyzed if something goes wrong. If you wait too long for the rod, you will increase your chances of being paralyzed. Not sure of the age that's the cut off point. In the end you'll be normal. Make sure your doctor is an orthopedic surgeon. There's more I can say, but so little space. Good luck to you. P.S. If you have to have blood transfusion, be sure its from somone you know. You won't die.
