    A couple of things come to mind. If there is some way you could try out a couple of climbing belts (we usually call it a "harness") that would assure a good fit. Some are adjustable in the legs so that would allow you keep the same one as you grow. The UIAA (Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme) has established standards and any new climbing device sold by a major manufacturer that shows that it meets that standard is safe to use. Otherwise, I'd recommend buying them at your climbing gym since individual fit is so unique.
