How do you get sponsored or noticed by brands when racing mx or atv's?

In mx you should only believe a quarter of what you hear and still be a bit sceptical about that quarter. A ton of lower level riders will spout that they are sponsored by a particular product but in reality they may just be putting the stickers on their bike that anyone can buy or they may be offered 10% off of what they purchase which anyone off the street can get if they ask. Or they may be signed up to on of the online sites like sponsorhouse which claims to get you sponsorship but it is just really to gain the companies sales. Getting true sponsorship where you get bikes, gear etc can only be gained by being at the top of the sport and winning or at least competing at that high level and the rest is just smoke and mirrors.
