Did anybody know that you can use your xbox 360 controller for pc games?

I was looking to buy a pc controller today when i found out i can use my xbox 360 controller. thats just great and when i tried it it worked perfectly fine.

Microsoft is coming out or already came out with a wireless adapter to use 360 wireless peripherals for PC games- Knowing microsoft it will only work with games for windows. I heard about this sometime around last christmas but haven't heard anything else. Not sure about corded controllers.
