    if you can't manually setup the controller in the game use Xpadder http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Xpadder.shtml It's free software that will allow you to setup the controller to press any of the buttons on the keyboard or mouse. For example, lets say you use the x keyboard button to jump, using xpadder you can set up any of the buttons on your controller to be the x keyboard button. Effectively making whatever button on your controller you want the jump button etc.

You have to make sure all the correct drivers are installed for the controller. Then under the game options you should be able to find one for controllers where you can change your controller. If this doesn't work then the controller might not be compatible with the game.
