Why do dumb movies like son of sardar, ra1 earn money in bollywood?

Quora is not the place to bash films. This question has no implication of wanting a real response. "Dumb" is an opinion, not anything real.

You have answered the question yourself my friend and I completely agree with you.  A majority of the Indian audience is indeed dumb and needs to increase its standards. Also, movies like "Kick" and "Happy New Year" are a message to the Indian audience saying that "We will keep making crappy movies and you will pay to watch them." And guess what , people go and watch such senseless movies again and again. Movies which make the most money are the ones with impossible fight scenes and item numbers. The story revolves only around one guy and women are there just for eye candy. I am not saying that all Indian movies are crappy, but mostly the ones made by the huge stars here are. I loved movies like "Lunch Box" and "A Wednesday". Even "PK" was a great movie. These were movies in which the actors, directors, script writers, cinematographers, editors and all crew put in their efforts to create something which had actual content and great acting. These movies hit you so hard that they make you ponder over it even a day or two after you have watched it. So I would simply conclude that people who watch crappy Bollywood masala movies are the ones who have never read a book.  Even if they have , it's probably Twilight or a Chetan Bhagat.
