  If you want to experience the sport in the most enjoyable way, then you should hot wax your board before every other to every third time that you go to the mountain. Twice a month would probably work good for you. The length of time that hot wax lasts(is effective) depends on how well it is scraped and buffed and also how long you spend on the mountain each session. P.S. If you ride rails, wax before each trip to the mountain.
