Good deal on a Burton Snowboard?

Is a Burton Vapor snowboard 159 good for someone 5-11 250lbs?

    Hooooollllddd up. You're a beginner and considering a Burton Vapor? Either you have a lot of money to spend or you know nothing about snowboards. The Vapor is Burton's top of the line board aimed toward advanced riders. Don't go out and buy the most expensive board you can if you're just learning. What if you don't like snowboarding? Then you're stuck with a $1200 snowboard that is useless to you. Go for a cheaper board. Also, for your sizing question, just look at each manufacturers size chart on their website, or go into a local board shop and they can help you.

Please, do yourself a favor and do NOT buy a vapor. Its purely a Pipe board that will get destroyed if you ride anything else. It's also triple the price of many other better boards. As for sizing, you are right on with your length. I might even go a tad shorter. As a rule of thumb, the board should touch the bottom of your chin when you're standing, and as a beginner it's a good standard to stick to. A longer board is faster, harder to turn, better in powder and heavier. A shorter board turns faster and easier, is easier to control and learn on. I don't really ever recommend Burton gear. I haven't had great personal experiences with it, and they are essentially the Walmart of snowboarding. They have bought up a ton of smaller brands.
