Why do you hold your arms in tightly during a two foot or one foot spin in ice skating?
-
like i don't get why you have to have your arms in to your chest while doing spins, why cant you keep them to you side .

Answer:
I'm that sure of the technical reason, but for me it helps with control. If I kept my arms to the side, I would just fall.

You dont do that in all skating spins! it depends which 1 ur talking about! like the jumps where ur in the air doing spins u need to do that cuz it gets ur full rotation in half a millasecond so if u didnt u would just jump up and down! u need to jump high and tight in the air! in spins on the ice where u keep turning u can do that in any position if ur rlly good! u have 2 have rlly good balance btw!
Hey
It will help you spin faster, and keeping them to your sides will make you look like an idiot, and possibly make you fall, and if you in a Competition you will lose points if oyu do that.
