You can start by taking group lessons with your friends. It's a fun way to bond and learn to ice-skate at the same time. Killing two birds with one stone, eh? I personally never roller bladed or roller skated before, but I should think that ice-skating is more intimidating especially if the ice is littered with pot-holes and stuff. If you think you prefer ice-skating, go for it! Don't worry about falling and hurting yourself. Everybody does that.
