Answer:
Basic one is the very, very basics of skating. It's not for hockey or figure skaters. Basic One will teach you how to stop, how to fall and get back up properly, and how to skate properly. It wouldn't be full of girls who have skated before; they would be in a higher level. Basic one is for people who have never taken lessons before and for people who don't know how to skate at all. In hockey one, you would be learning how to hockey skate, and everyone in that would already know how to skate and they would be learning the basics of the game of hockey. Skating is an important life skill, and good for you for wanting to learn. Who knows; you may decide you love it and want to go farther than Basic one :)

NO. Basic 1 would not be full of 12 year old girls doing triple axels. It'd be full of boys and girls in skii jackets and skirts, and helmets, slipping and falling, like everyone else, at least where I live. Anyone who has skated before would be more advanced than Basic 1, buddy. Hockey 1 would be full of kids who know how to skate and are learning the basics of how to play the game, period. Basic 1 is only for people who want to learn to skate, period. It teaches you to fall without getting hurt, get up, glide properly, and skate straight, but you will also need to have Basic 2 because they teach you how to skate better. Basic 3 won't be necessary. I skipped Basic 1. Actually, Basic 1 is mostly full of BOYS and not girls, where i live. Weird, huh? Basic 1 is just the very basics of skating, not hockey or figure, just skating. Thats it. Basic 1 will be good. You will probably be the oldest in the class, except 16 yr olds, because come on, by the time she was 15, Tara Lipinski had won an olympic gold medal :) but nobody in Basic 1 would have skated before, except the coaches. It is really fun and gives you balance and exercise. Have fun! Wear two pairs of socks, a long sleeve or short sleeve, a thin jacket, gloves if you want, and NO jeans, but jogging pants or something like that. I don't think you'll need a helmet, but thats up to you.... :P good luck.
