How can I learn to figure skate?

Do you have to be skinny to learn how to figure skate?

When I think "skinny" I think "pencil." If you're a pencil, you have no muscle. Having no muscle makes for very difficult skating... Do you need to have some athletic ability? Yes, you need reasonably good balance, but everyone's a little shaky starting out ice skating. Try a class or go with someone who can help you. Think about padding. A helmet would be a very intelligent thing.

Anyone can skate. You can be whatever size, but it may mean you have to work harder, but anyone can learn to figure skate
