  • Answer:

You use your hair to keep your face warm? Yeah, uh, plan on pulling it back. Some instructors will suggest pulling your hair back because long hair is distracting to skaters even at the lowest levels of skating lessons. Pull it back at the sides with clips, make a demi-ponytail or put it up in a ponytail/bun. The best way to keep your ears warm is to wear a headband.

Wearing your hair at least half up is good but all the way back, either in a pony tail or a bun, would be the better alternative:) Even though you are just beginning, your hair will get in the way, trust me on this one!! You will probably find yourself wanting to pull it all the way back after the first few lessons you have. It really helps because its not in the way and you don't have to worry about how it looks:) I have always had very long hair, ( it almost reaches my behind) and when I was younger I too didn't want to wear it all the way back in a pony/bun, I quickly learned that that was a mistake LOL, it definitely was more of a bother than anything!! If you get cold when its pulled back you could try wearing ear warmers, a sports head band, scarf, or a hat. There will be plenty of people who wear all of these!! My coach wears a scarf ALL the time!! She always has and I'm sure she probably always will...she was also a national/international skater. What I'm trying to say is that MANY skaters of all levels wear something to keep warm:) I hope this helps you!! Good luck and have a blast at your first lesson!! I'm sure you will love it!

you're right, it doesn't really matter if you are just beginning, but tie it up so it doesn't whirl around. and its polite too:) if u want u can do it half up and down that should be just fine

If your hair is in your face, then yes you should. If you don't particularly care whether or not your hair is in your face, that's fine. I never tie mine back.

well, coaches prefer that. but if you are skating for recreational purposes, you dont have to tie it back. if you become serious, put your hair in a ponytail and make sure to pull your bangs back with a hair clip...thats my coaches pet peeve when i dont do that

You can get one of those headband ear-muff things that they sell during the winter. It keeps your hair off of your face and keeps your ears warm. I usually wear a ponytail with one but you don't have to.

It's preferable to wear your hair up for a lesson. For my first lesson i clipped my bangs back. Your instructor won't care, but even though your doing the simplest things, it still get's in your face. As a beginner, clipping your bangs back or half up half down both okay choses. When trying to learn more moves, it's extremely annoying. Everytime you move, you have to push your hair back behind your ears and then it falls back down, you continue to repeat and repeat the same thing over and over.
