What brand of snowblades, skiis or snowboards is better to buy?

Preping skiis and snowboards?

  • In order to wax your snowboards and skiis, do you really need to use wax remover? Plan was we wanted to prep em today, but we forgot the wax remover.................

  • Answer:

You don't have to but it's a good idea. Removing the old wax isn't really the issue, removing the dirt and grime is. Also, the wax that is on it is probably left over from last season and is suited better for warmer conditions, the wax you will most likely put on for this time of year is for colder conditions. Mixing the two can result in lower performance than you may have been expecting. I really wouldn't worry about, it isn't like your skis are going to explode or anything. One of the biggest things to remember is that when you do use base cleaner you need to make sure that the base is completely dry when you wax it. Wax over the base cleaner and the wax will never bond properly and you'll be back to square one.

No, just hot wax the new stuff on and you'll be good.

Like most said, the base cleaner is more for the dirt, and other "unclean" things stuck to the bottom of your skis. The base cleaner persuades that stuff to come out of the pores in the petex. If you are hot waxing, just wax over the top and scrape. If you are just rubbing wax on cold, do that, then buff it in with a green scrubby or something, and you should be ok until you get a chance to completely clean the bases from the ground up.

it is probably a lot better because it cleans the ski and it is not only for cleaning wax but small pices of anything that can scratch your base if you want a quick wax that will work for 3 or 4 runs just get some swix rub on wax

No you do not need to use wax remover. Just apply good hot wax to them, smooth it with an iron, and smooth it with a plastic scraper. Form more information on ski waxing take a look at this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ski_wax
