What type of skis should I buy?

Im a skier and im a racer i just got race skis and im trying to figure out what type of boot to buy?

  • any suggestions, hopefully under $500??

  • Answer:

I always liked Rossignols and competed in and on them for years. You need to head to your local shop and ask for the resident pro. He can help you out with some suggestions. Also, given that you say you're a racer, call your coach and ask him what he thinks. He'll be able to give you some recommendations based on your skiing style and strengths.

For racing the boot fit is even more critical than for a recreational skier. Shop at several professional boot fitters, the shell fit and the boot flex must properly match your body and weight, add a good set of foot beds, align your tibia and ankle angles for good movement. Get a cuff alignment, cants and be aware of the ramp of your binding/delta to match your body. For an instructor or ski patrol, the boots must allow you to walk at the end of the day.
