How should I study for the PSAT and SAT?

  • I am aiming for a perfect score on the SAT and at least a 200 on the PSAT. I am currently looking for study books for the tests, but there are so many options, I don't know which ...show more

  • Answer:

have you taken the psat before? cuz the psat is the same grading as the sat. its out of 2400. but either way im studying for sats at the moment and i got a 1040 out of 1600 on the psat. to study go on collegeboard.com they have question of the days. thats very helpful. they also have an online course you can take for roughly $70. its $60 if you buy the sat study guide. which i suggest you do too. work on grammar cuz thats a huge part of the sat. when you take the psat your gonna see that theres alot of words that you dont know. and you cant answer questions when you dont know what theyre asking. i suggest buying a vocab cartoon book. you should also read books. such as 1984, Voltaire, Pride and Prejudice, and The Jungle. These books will help you and you should use them on your essay.

Ask your school counselor if your school offers a SAT prep class (most do). Kaplan also offers a more intensive prep course, they garauntee a high score. (however Kaplan is more expensive and you have to take it at a local college). -The main thing is don't get stuck on the 1st section(the essay). Don't bother erasing mistakes, just draw a line through it. And be clear in your ideas and look for grammatical errors. Also, try to narrow your answers down to 2. If you can't , then skip it! Remember, the SAT subtracts points if you answer incorrectly! -Relax, and good luck!

Well, the CollegeBoard (the company who makes the test) makes a book. That book mostly consists of practice tests. The book I am using is made by Barron's, and it contains a lot of vocabulary helpers (flashcards, a 50 page list of popular vocab words on the SAT, etc.). The PSAT and SAT are quite similar so you won't need to get 2 separate books. Good luck on your tests
