Do you have any tips for the SAT Reading Comprehension?

Taking the SAT tomorrow. Reading comprehension tips?

  • Reading comprehension has always been my weak part. This is my first time taking the real SAT, other than the PSAT, which I got a 1200/1600 on. Advice? Thank you!

  • Answer:

    1) Do NOT panic...work quickly though, and keep an eye on the clock. 2) Look at the questions following a passage for about 30 seconds prior to reading the passage so that you know which types of details to keep an eye out for. 3) Don't waste time getting to know every little detail in the passage; you won't finish. 4) If the question references a specific line, make sure to not only look back to that line, but also to look for context clues in the preceding and following lines. 5) Eliminate distractor questions and make your best guess if you are able to narrow the choices down to 2 or 3.

when you do the reading, in your head, pretend as if you were reading to a small child. By adding inflection you will be able to better understand what you just read. (The changes in your voice will tell you what parts of the reading are important) It worked great for me! =D
