Answer:
You may want to adjust your expectations a bit, since improving one section by over 200 points is a major challenge. It's not impossible, especially if you took it cold this time, but aiming for 650 is much more realistic. That being said, the best way to prepare is to do as many practice questions as possible before test day. Go get the College Board's blue book of practice tests, and hit it. You may also want a book like Princeton Review for strategy, but rely on the blue book for practice questions. Review every mistake you make (don't rely on someone else's explanations - figure out for yourself what you did wrong). The College Board has an online course, too, which isn't bad. If you're aiming for a high score, vocabulary prep is essential, too. The vocabulary seems to be getting tougher over time, so it's going to be necessary. But four months is plenty of time to put at least 1000 words under your belt. I like http://www.word-nerd.com for vocab, but the important thing is to not neglect it. Good luck.

Well, in contrast to the other answer, I believe that CR is the hardest SAT section to improve on. It's very difficult to rase your score that much in 4 months, but you can very well do so by studying a lot. The section itself is basically testing you on how fast you read, and how well you analyze poems and passages. So, during the summer, start reading as much as you can, and try to pick up your reading speed. By reading faster, you have a bigger chance of finishing more questions. Usually, on the section, I skim through the entire passage, then go straight to the passage. Because the questions are revolved around the same format as the passage, I try to find the answer within the passage. That's just my method. Take a lot of practice tests over the summer, and make sure that you read some long passages. Also, the CR is about vocab, so go and memorize (or at least remember), some vocab. An easier method is to remember the latin roots, suffixs, and prefixs. Those help you a lot when you don't know a particular word(s).
