Fungus causes ingrown toenail symptoms?

    Not likely. Actually toenail fungus causes the nail to separate from the nail bed. You must avoid trimming or picking your toenails too short. I have been battling toenail fungus since last summer and it's finally almost gone. I was tempted to cut the discolored & separated nail completely off but ultimately decided not to for the very reason that I didn't want it to become ingrown.

That is a sign of a toenail fungus. I suggest you take care of it now. Cures like tea tree oil or oregano oil are bested suited for this job.

try some athlete's foot spray. don't cut the nails so short that the skin can grow over them. then when the nail grows out, it causes problems. soak feet in salt water. avoid dirty carpets.

Are there white puffs of skin around the top corners of the nail? It could be fungus, I've had this before, and it hurttt. The white stuff may just be dirt and debris that gets under your toenail.
