Bangalore to Puttaparthi?!!! Roads?!! What are they like?

Why are there four lane roads in Bangalore?

• I am new to Bangalore and I see all four lane roads that make me wonder if they reduce traffic congestion in anyway (considering this is a huge problem here) or they just add to the difficulty in crossing roads (since there are no footbridges or crossings)

  I am shocked to hear this :-P I've been born and brought up in Bangalore and I've barely come across many four lane roads... probably a few... N part of those are in places which dont require it as the traffic is less. The reason for traffic in bangalore can be because of many reasons. 1. The public transport system is not as efficient as the other metros in India thus forcing everyone to own a vehicle 2. The large number of 2 wheelers and auto rickshaws according to me cause many problems as they keep squeezing in everywhere trying to be the first one out every time 3. The corrupt traffic police who only bother about collecting fines from two wheelers and ignore the traffic 4. Horrible road conditions! Just slow down every vehicle and thus causing jams. 5. Cuz no one follows rules here! Barely abt 2% sincerely follow traffic rules. And for the difficulty in crossing roads... oh well one thing is for certain a pedestrian is given no importance at all! No body stops when a pedestrian is crossing the road even on a zebra crossing. There are barely any under bridge or over bridge for pedestrians. Well so the answer to your question as to whether the roads are helping the traffic or they are making it harder to cross... well doesn't seem to be helping the traffic in any way as its just getting worse by the day so it may be tht its making it difficult to cross!
