How can I get a headstart on the 7th grade?

I want to get way ahead in school in 7th grade?

  • So I was wondering what math we do in 7th and 8th grade? I really want to get ahead and finish math early in the future, so can you give me a hand on what you learn in 7th and 8th ...show more

  • Answer:

If you go to http://www.khanacademy.og there is a free progressive math program that allows you to go at your own pace. There are also free video lectures on mathematics from basic arithmetic through calculus. Advanced 7th and 8th graders are usually doing algebra and geometry at a minimum. Good luck in your mathematical pursuits.

I really liked Saxon Math for my homeschooled boys. Maybe Saxon 8/7 or Saxon Algebra 1/2. I don't know your level, but you can take a placement test or two to determine that. Go to this website to download these tests free, then you can be sure where to start to best meet your needs. http://www.homeschooldiscount.com/home2/SAX_placement.htm. Saxon books are skill-level books, not grade-level books. It is essential that each student be placed in the text that meets his or her skill level. Saxon's "Advanced Math" (integrates topics for algebra, geometry, trigonometry, discrete mathematics, and mathematical analysis) is typically done in 10th or 11 grade, but if you're really advanced, it may be for you much sooner. That's where the assessment tests help out. Here's Saxon's Scope & Sequence for what their advanced Math is http://saxonpublishers.hmhco.com/NR/rdonlyres/E657B670-6CB1-4860-A7A5-72366BB23C38/0/Algebra_SS.pdf

It depends on what School District you're in. For me, 7th and 8th grade is Computated Math (A whole lot of things, and pre-algebra) 9th is Algebra, 10th is Geometry, 11th Advanced Algebra, and 12th, Calculus. Usually, if you ask your school, you can take a advanced placement test. At my school, it can bump you two years ahead. If you are in a Special Learning class (For super smart people) they can bump you three or four grades of math.

it really depends on what school you go too. ask the teachers or the principal. or ask on of the 7th or 8th graders at your school. or any 8th graders that you know follow the same curriculum. hope I helped (:
