What jobs are there in botany?

Jobs in botany? Where would I work?

    Whoa, that's bit of a contrast in interests. With a degree in botany you will pretty much be relegated to research assistant at a university or research institution. If you focus on horticulture instead there is a large job market in the commercial residential landscaping and plant production field. I graduated with a B.S. in horticulture and was able to get several job offers from a wide variety of industries. But I'm no industry stooge (ha ha) so now I'm on track to earn a PhD and get a job teaching/doing research at a University. On the other hand a degree in world religions doesn't really have any applications as far as jobs go, unless you'd like to wait tables or deliver pizzas for the rest of your life, I'd recommend botany, plant sciences, horticulture, crop sciences or agronomy.
