Can I use a windsurfer as SUP?

Could I SUP on a windsurfing board?

  • Getting into outdoor sports to stay active. 2fers are always nice. If I get a windsurfing board, I'm wondering if i can use it as a SUP too.

    Yes most windsurfing boards with enough Volume you can SUP on. But not on a sinker as it means what it says, If the wind dies down it will sink. Boards are a lot wider now, than when I was windsurfing. Good Luck

SUP are way bigger than windsurfing boards -- they are made to function differently, one being a base from which to lever the sail into the wind and the other needing to have a large surface area to support your entire body weight and track straight. The wind in the sail supports most of your weight when windsurfing. It's kinda like waterskiing -- as long as you move, you can stand up on the water. If you stop moving there is not enough surface area of the skis to keep you from falling over or sinking. Same with a windsurfing board. Not large enough. Sorry, but I don't think a "2fer" is practical here.
