How do I get a Disney channel audition if I live abroad?

How did a BRITISH actor (Gregg Sulkin) get to be on Disney Channel?

  • I always thought that you had to live in the US to get a part - or an audition, even - for Disney Channel, but I've just found out that he is definitely British. As well as ...show more

  • Answer:

Disney will hire whoever they think is right for a part. Citizenship has nothing to do with it. When people say "You can't audition for Disney unless you're in the U.S.," they're not talking about your citizenship or your place of birth - they're talking about you being physically able to get to the U.S. to attend U.S. auditions. If Sulkin's parents/guardian were able to bring him to the U.S. to audition, then he could certainly audition. More likely, if someone from the Disney organization spotted Sulkin in a British show (and he certainly had some high-profile credits prior to his Disney work), he may not have HAD to come to the U.S. to audition. He may have had a private meeting/audition in the UK. As far as being able to work in this country even though he's not a U.S. citizen - think about it. There are hundreds of actors who are not U.S. citizens who work in film, TV and theatre in this country. If they can file the appropriate paperwork to do it, why couldn't Sulkin?

Well I think he did a little bit of work in England before he moved to LA and got to be on Disney Channel plus he had an agent so you need experience first than an agent which can take years to do. So if you have a passion for it go for it. But your parents need to be apart of this aswell and make sure they support you because you can't sign any contracts until your 18 years old. Plus you need great grades in school at least a 3.0 otherwise an agent won't even consider you to be apart of their agency. But if you have experience by doing all the acting classes you can find and theatre for about 3 years then you should start looking around for agencies. But Gregg did have experience before he started booking things on the Disney Channel. And his parents are probably very supportive of him. So yeah um.. no the answer is no to your question because what ever the breakdown is that morning and the agency has a call for you and your in England or Canada you have to go to the casting call so basically it doesn't matter where you live as long as you match the character that is described in the breakdown. Hope this helps :)

He was born in England. And he did a little acting there, but then he moved the the US before getting those roles. An agent in LA (after he moved) got him those auditions.
