How to organize and limit your bass fishing gear/equipment when fishing from the shore?

I have a thing about tackle boxes. I can't pass up at least opening EVERY one I see at a yard sale or swap meet. They can sometimes be a treasure chest of goodness. And sometimes they can be a Pandora's box of bother. I detest old boxes full of rusty spoons and rusted off hooks among paint-chipped and splintered wooden lures, etc. I bought one box toward the end of the second day of a lady's yard sale for $5.00. I sold the box on eBay for $22.00, one pocket knife for $12.00 and another belt knife for over $120.00. There was a salmon fly (vintage) that I sold for what the box had cost me. That was a GREAT box. But the BEST boxes for me are the half a dozen or more I can see here beside me or under my desk. (I have at least three or four more out in the shop filled with miscellaneous.) The ones here in my office are sorted into "trout", "salmon", "saltwater", "northern pike", etc. At a glance, I know which one is which. I have only to grab the box according to the direction I plan to go fishing. It really is as simple as that. You can do the same. One, or even two, tackle boxes geared strictly toward bass can't be too hard to organize. Because they come in SOOooooo many sizes and shapes and configurations, it is a no-brainer to make each box hold EXACTLY what you choose to use. There are boxes created for taking on tackle for every situation from worms to spinner baits and all the cranks and plastics, etc. Make two boxes up. Organize them right, and from the very start. Then make it a point to keep them that way....either as you use them, or after you finish the trip and get back home. I particularly enjoy the time I get to spend going through the boxes. It also helps to refresh my memory about exactly what I have inside. All too often, we get stuck in a rut and keep fishing the same old standbys that just happened to be laying there in the top trays. Sometimes it pays off to get down into the bottom layers and towards the back to find out the REAL deal has been shoved or shifted off and out of sight. And on occasion, you'll find the bass as surprised to see something new and interesting as you were. I can't begin to guess how many individual lures I have for the MANY methods of fishing we have to offer here in Alaska. But I CAN tell you there is NO way I could EVER begin to fish the way I do if not for organizing my tackle in my tackle-taming tackle boxes. It really is the ONLY way to go. And as for me? The more the merrier!
