What is a stripped lower receiver on an ar 15?

Will my AR-15 appreciate in value, serial # less than 1000?

  • I purchase a SOG Armory stripped AR-15 lower receiver, I have assembled it into a complete AR-15 rifle with all the parts inside my garage. The serial number of my rifle is # 843 and ...show more

  • Answer:

Not necessarily. In order for it to have monetary value, you'd have to be able to sell it.

The others are right, the serial number won't play a role in it's value. I know that others may disagree but I'd not sure the price of AR's will rise a noticeable amount if there is an "assault weapons ban". First of all, there has NEVER been a ban on these type weapons. The only ban has been on accessories to these type weapons such as 30 rd mags, collapsible stocks, bayonet lugs, etc...the rifle themselves have never been banned. Be that as it may, I personally don't believe the prices will raise much more. Reason being is that I believe those that want an AR or AK have already purchased one, or are in the process of purchasing one. If they don't want or see the need for one when it costs $1300 then they are not going to be willing to pay for them at a higher price. Hope I'm wrong because I have numerous that I'd like to sell if prices do increase. But I seriously doubt it.

Yes. But you won't want to sell it. You will need it to defend yourself against tyranny of a govt. gone wild.

It will be worth more but maybe not for the reason you think.... For political and economic reasons the price of your firearm will go up...

the serial # is irrelevent but I can guarantee you it will go up in value. It will only go up if there is a ban and it can only go down if they allow us to continue to mfg thousands of AR's everyday as in the recent past. And we all know about the assault rifle ban that will soon discontinue mfg of all assault rifles in the US. I assume the hi-cap mags will be banned from manfuacturing as well but they will never be banned from ownership and the one you have now will be grandfathered in to the upcoming ban if it ever happens. Keep it, sell it in 6yrs+ if you must sell it and by that time it will either have gone up alot or just a little
