  • Answer:

The mat for home is probably the best thing you can do. Find out what their naptime routine is and try to follow it at home too. For example, if they turn out the lights and play soothing music...do it at home too. You can even find out what cd they play and play it at home. Sit beside her mat and pat her back until she goes to sleep for the first week or so...then try to let her lay down alone. And make sure you have naptime at home at the same time they have naptime at daycare. If none of that works, talk to the center and see if they have an extra crib that she can use during naptime. Really, at 16 months, she's not too big for a crib!

Doesn't the daycare have any techniques? I would think this is a very common problem!

this is for the daycare to work on with the child cuz you're paying for their expertise. consider a different childcare facility or home daycare. there is also the option of staying home and raising your own child -she might respond better.
