Should I become a dental hygienist or an orthodontist assistant?

I'm already a dental assistant should i go to hygienist next? or straight to dentist?

    Heck, why bother with Hygiene, more time, money, headaches. If you can get into dental school, just do that. Now it is a different story if you are paying your way through. Hygiene will pay better than an assistant wage. I think it will be forever long if you go to hygiene school first, I just do not see the point of that. Why, is the main question, why are you thinking hygiene first when it is not your ultimate goal ? All the best

I'm currently in the dental hygiene program at my community college. Many students in my program complete their degree as a hygienist first and then go to become a dentist. Let me just warn you though that the program is VERY difficult! I started off in college with a year of straight A's in my pre requisites. Then as soon as I got into dental hygiene my grades all went down to B's an B-'s. And as of right now I am struggling in 2 dental hygiene classes ... very close to failing because it is such a difficult program. So just be prepared for the struggle because a majority of my class has admitted to crying as a result of this very tough program. Even I cried awhile back because one day my patient just didn't show up to clinic and so I felt very behind that day. So just study hard and get reliable patients! You don't want to get patients who just don't show up like a few of my classmates did. GOOD LUCK!!!
