26th is a public holiday, and Germans take their public holidays seriously, so don't expect too much partying. Not speaking German is a bit of a handicap, but not a huge one unless you go a long way out East. Mitte is fashionable and very central (depending on where you are in Pankow it's about 15mins by U-bahn or S-bahn). I'm more of a pubber than a clubber myself, so can't specifically recommand nightclubs. If you're looking for lively bars though, in Mitte you could try the Haeckische Markt, a collection of bars under the main S-bahn viaduct in the centre of town. Do note that any improbably scantily clad young ladies you'll see on the streets around there are ladies of the night. Another place in Mitte to look out for is Tacheles. It's a typically Berlin institution, a huge former department store on Oranienburger Straße that has been squatted by an art collective for years now, with bars and party rooms all over the place (including in the garden, weather permitting). Given you're English-speaking I'd recommend also checking out the West of town (the old Cold War still divide the social structure of Berlin). There are supposedly a lot of clubs around the Zoo area, but I'd particularly recommend Kreuzberg. It has something of a dubious, grubby reputation, being home to large immigrant and anarchist communities, but was always the liveliest part of the American sector, and particularly the southern part around the Bergmannstraße has become quite fashionable again. The 'old' grubby stuff is focussed around the Oranienstraße. Not everyone's cup of tea, but one of my favourite haunts in the town, if only to enjoy sushi at stupidly cheap prices on the corner of Oranienstraße and Adalbertstraße.
