What castle in Germany is the oldest?

What is the most famous castle in Germany?

  • Answer:

As to tourists, I suppose it's Neuschwanstein, as has already been mentioned. As to history, I suppose it's the Wartburg, where Martin Luther allegedly wrote the first German translation of the Bible while he was under arrest there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wartburg It can be visited again since the German reunification in 1990.

Neuschwanstein, in southern Bavaria, is arguably the most famous castle in Germany and one of the most famous castles in the world. Other well-known and often-visited castles in Germany include Burgruine Heidelberg, Burg Eltz, Burg Marksburg, Reichsburg Cochem, and the Kaiserberg in Nurnberg--there are many, many more. Germany has hundreds of castles and all are worth seeing.
