  • Max power & Max torque in spec of bike

  • Answer:

Good power is required when the bike is running continuously. Good torque is required at the time of movement from halt and at the time of climbing gradients. You would have to choose a bike based on the road conditions in your area. I remember in hilly areas 4 gears lambretta scooter were used in earlier olden days. And 3 speed bajaj scooters were famous in flat road roads.

Mad Jack did a pretty good job explaining it. Here's a few other things, the maximum torque peak is the rpm at which the engine makes the most power with the fewest rpms. Additionally, torque numbers mean absolutely nothing unless associated with rpm. Motors produce torque, not horsepower. Dynamometers measure torque and horsepower is calculated using a mathmatical equasion. Also, larger torque number don't necessarily equate to more horsepower. For example, 80 lbs-ft of torque @ 2,000 rpm is less horsepower than is 40 lbs-ft @ 8,000 rpm.
