Yes. Books describe the authors' way - if you are not the author his way can not possibly be yours. That is not to say his way can not inspire you, but following it will not give you the experience it gave him because his life has been created not only by what he did, but also, and chiefly, by who he is. You are not anyone other than yourself, and no one other than you is you. Create your own way.

The trick is that surrender and persistent action are not opposites, but complementary, and you should do both at once.  For an example, when I first started whitewater kayaking, I was very active and aggressive, moving around to position myself differently according to the obstacles and waves.   As my experience and understanding grew, I found myself taking a much more relaxed approach of drifting down the river.  In this way, I was relaxed to minimize disturbance by small waves and ready to respond forcefully to truly necessary maneuvers.   You can probably think of a similar analogy for yourself. Similarly in life you must both surrender to unchangeable forces but remain alert to the opportunities for fruitful action.  The main problem is distinguishing one from the other and integrating this into ourselves.  For instance, we will often let other people upset us and blame them, when really the only one that can let us get upset is ourselves.  Another instance related to success are the laws of giving and excellence.  Rather than focusing on the short term results and rewards, if you focus on what you can control, your output and capability, the long term rewards you have less control over will follow. In my view, there is no one perfect book. There probably isn't a set of books that make up perfection. Books on inspiration and success show us that the authors have found something that has inspired them and shown them a pathway to success. Some view success as a window that opens and closes, sometimes predictably, often times not. It is important to prepare yourself for when that window of opportunity opens itself to you, you can make a choice to take advantage of it. I suggest you take the knowledge you have accumulated in your vast readings and synthesize your own views, understanding that there will always be gaps to close, things to learn, and knowledge to pass along to others. Hopefully, you will develop an openness to receiving knowledge that others are passing on to you.
