How do you pursue a career in fashion marketing?

If i major in art can i pursue a career in fashion design?

    Well I'm having the same problem. I was a painting major and wanting to go into textiles and well I found out through members of the textile community that I found on the internet and then emailed and I was surprised when I got responses. But you can't go directly into fashion design from business/marketing unless you have an amazing contact. I would finish the major that you're currently in, if you love it. And then go to a school like FIT, fashion institute of technology, or a trade school for 2 years and get your associates in fashion. Because even though you may know how to draw and sew people won't take you seriously without that degree. But if you don't care for your major, leave your school, if it's what you're passionate about. It's a huge decision but it might just be the right one for you. But definately talk to some proffessionals in the fashion industry.

Sure! You might want to go to take a coarse in fashion design or some such, also, but I'll bet you can find others in the field with little or no formal training! Your best bet is to communicate with a professional. Good Luck!

If you've got talent, then the only thing that a diploma can do is enhance your designer "know how." take your degree and do anything you want with it. There are plenty of art majors out there who have wound up in marketing. Although the degree sounds BORING...art would be a much more fun way to pass the time until you graduate.
