What is limoges in france like?

What is the difference between Limoge and Limoges--both made in France?

  • I have 2 very old porcelain items, cake stand(green floral clusters saying Limoge, France, almost looks like Herend)The other an oval covered vegetable dish which says Limoges, France.

  • Answer:

Limoges is an area in France where hundreds of companies make things, mostly porcelain vases, dishes and other fancy things for the home. It is pronounced Limoge and you have to have a license to sell your things with that stamp on it. I believe that the one that is missing the s could be a fake of some sort, it is best to check it out with an antique appraiser. The correct one is Limoges, France... I wonder if the s just came off? Well good luck,
