    Ryan is a male name so you have not got to worry about colours as long as they are subdued and trousers are dark: don't take light coloured trousers and shoes at that time of the year. You don't have the bother of heels either. Just take an assortment of clothes in which you look fairly smart, not T-shirts, sweats or sneakers. It is much warmer in Spain than in France especially in Barcelona and Majorca. There you can wear far less clothing or lighter clothes. Provence is already warmer than Paris but it is still chilly at that time of the year so you will need a coat and scarf and the kind of clothing that you can wear in layers and peel off if you are too warm. I would not worry about colours in Spain: they like bright things and in France, whilst the french on the whole wear less colourful things themselves they are used to people from every nation wearing much brighter clothing. Young people like colour and if you are a teenager you can wear jeans practically anywhere unless you go to a very formal venue.

I wouldn't worry too much about what is suitable unless you have comfort in mind, and what might be suitable in a posh restaurant. Bear in mind that it is still spring and not yet really really warm, and take this into consideration. And bring good sturdy shoes with arch support.
