Would Nice, France be a good place to study abroad?

In my opinion, that depends. If you want to improve your French, I'd go somewhere more remote, like maybe a little town. There are some really nice places like this in France. The reason I suggest this is that my mum studied in France when she was at university, and found that, as she wasn't in a particular touristy area of France, the locals spoke hardly any English and so, while it was hard at first, she was forced to speak French, and as a result, her French improved much more than her friends who went to other more popular places in France. However, it might be hard to find a non-touristy part of France near a beach, I'm not sure. If you're not interested in improving your French skills, however, Nice might be a good idea. Although I would never recommend trying to shove English down the throats of French speakers, most people in cafés and bars, etc. will speak English. You could always go and visit some less touristy areas of France if you want an authentic experience of French life. Hope this helped :)

In my opinion it would be one of the best places in France. I agree with the respondent before me that in a small town it is easier to improve your French skills but if you really do not give up on French you can have the same results in Nice as well. Anyway, Nice is a paradise on Earth, it's beautiful: I have never seen such a nice view from other McDonald's :D It is also close to other beautiful places which is very important since I guess you want to travel around in your free time. Cannes, St Tropes, Monaco are very close and with a bit more traveling you can get to Marseilles as well. The other advantage is that it is close to Italy. If you happen to travel to Italy by car, the coastal motorway is breathtaking and the cities around are hidden treasures: no one writes about them but they have the best places to eat in Liguria. Yes, Nice is touristic and you will not have the same atmosphere like in Provence. It is also quite expensive. If you want the real French atmosphere go somewhere inland. But I only can recommend Nice, I would die to study there instead od the rainy Netherlands. Hope I could help!
