Why won't my DVD play on my laptop?

Burnt a film onto a disc, plays on my laptop, wont play on any DVD players! Can anyone help?

    If you burned it as a DVD, then your problem might be that the particular brand of DVD-R's don't work with your DVD player. Another thing to try is burning the DVD at a vastly slower speed than as fast as the computer can go.

DVD format is VOB, you have to convert your video to DVD compatible video at first, otherwise regular DVD player can not read and play it.
