Do blue ray dvds have region codes?

Question about Region codes will my dvds work on Blu-ray?

Hi I have been read that blu ray has 3 region codes, I have a bunch of dvds from funimation, all the dvds are anime and are dubbed in english... Would they work on the blu ray ...show more

Blu-Ray supports region coding (although again some disks do not impose it) and I have read (but can't find the reference) that Blu-Ray will enforce DVD region coding. So if you have DVDs that are region coded (some may not be) they probably won't play on a Blu-Ray player from a different region. I did find some support for this conclusion --- but no definitive statement -- in that DVD City, a firm that specializes in region free players don't list any Blu-Ray players on their list of region free DVD players, and specifically identify the two Blu-Ray players they do sell as not region free. It looks like you may be out of luck.
