Answer:
Back in the old day you would want a Computer Science Degree for this. Now it's call IT or Information Technology. They'll teach you both hardware and software here. There is a lot of field into IT now a day. Most of the IT shift to System Administrator. They work mainly on supporting client through via software support. A few would hop into Networking. This involve more into hardware installation and fewer software support. Mainly on router/switch/server etc.. support. Here are thing that you can research on: Comptia A+ certification Comptia Network+ certification CCNA Cisco certification MSCE certification Solaris certification There is a lot more but these will do for now to help you understand the world of Networking. I would jump into the Comptia A+ certification first. It's your first step into the world of computer. Ask your parent to buy you that book and study it.

Greetings! Well here is the scoop, I too have been there like the previous writer. Be a chef, at least you will eat good. Every where you turn, because of the hoopla and supposed "mystique" involving computers, you will pay premium for the education, premium for certifications so you can get a job Mine cost 12k in 98. You will get a job like I did only to find that one of you, will supervise an entire department of less than 10 bucks an hour. Also you will always be on the carpet because these people can't really do the "real network" "real active directory". It is not uncommon to find corps using advanced ms2000 and not even knowing how to use it? duh. The only time I made money was temp jobs doing security schemes for banks. The most sophisticated of which is operated by an outfit called HSBC. Oh well Good Luck
