    I hope someone can help you but if not, you may just want to try a different flavor of linux. I have found that most of these things can be fixed but they have you opening command shells and doing things we mortals dare not speak of. That is to say, you may get in over your head very quickly. There are so many different versions of Linux. I liked Mint because it worked on my Toshiba. But if it hadn't I would have moved on to another.
